author's description, June 20, 2010Ybs uses sorting algorithm very similar to bwc and distance coding like dc.
Ybs has the only e8/e9 preprocessing for binaries and it may be disabled by switch -op (Omit Preprocessing).
The compressor is featured in the BWT comparison.
